The software has a nicely designed interface with a navigation pane that facilitates the access to its several functions. In my opinion, this application is suitable for any type of user, provided they know basic concepts about data protection. Perhaps the main danger of using such a program is derived from not knowing how to access to your data after protecting them. In addition, the program integrates with Windows shell to make its functions available from the contextual menu.
This software features various levels of data protection. First, you can completely hide files, folders and even drives. An advantage over similar software is that this protection cannot be avoided by entering in Windows safe mode. A second level of protection is locking data, this means that your files will be visible but inaccessible. The third level is to write-protect your files. With this type of protection, your data can be opened and read but no changes can be made to them.
Your sensitive data can also be protected by using a feature called Private Disk. It works by creating protected virtual drives for your information. The software uses four different drives for various types of information: documents, images, music and videos. Unfortunately, it does not allow creating other drives.
Another way to protect your data is the Safe Delete function, which uses various overwrite patterns to delete information permanently. In turn, the Erase History function can remove all the data left behind when you navigate the Internet or use your system.
All in all, Gilisoft Privacy Protector is a comprehensive solution for data protection. When tested, it successfully performed all the functions it is supposed to. If you are concerned about data security, this might be the right solution for your worries.
